Scenario
As the training provider for part of the " Evesham Roll-out" You have been requested to produce  training documentation on  "backups" their importance, backup regimes and procedures, security measures and  the procedures required to complete a successful backup.  
Note : this documentation will also be emailed and Faxed to customers.

Brief :  You are required to :
Initially test the computer
Prepare the Hard drive/ Install the operating system/ Configure the operating system
Create and document a backup, and its automation ( this is required to satisfy the scenario)
The documentation should include:
What are backups and their importance
Differing backup regimens
A step by step procedure to guide clients through the process
A step by step

these are  required for their standard office suite.
Also  required are a library of macros for standard "statements" used for corporate & customer communications. The initial request for this service is from Human resources & Sales.

Practical
1 : You are required to prepare a hard disk using Fdisk and format. and then install a command line operating system.   You are to document this as a standard procedure. 

2:  (M4 + D2 ) you will then continue to install and configure a graphical operating system,  Due to space constraints, use the minimum install options.   You are required to configure the system for some one who has partially impaired vision,  create a shortcut on the desktop to a named application.  Test and document the system. (Identify using screen prints configuration details for example , Hardware properties,screen resolution  and shortcuts)

3: (P6)   distinguish between a command line interface and a graphical interface, by identifying examples of each and stating briefly their differences.  Identify a function in the graphical operating system and identify an equivalent in the command line operating system.

Outcomes

M4 configure the apperance and operation of a general-purpose software package to meet particular users needs.

D2 Configure the desktop of a GUI operating system and provide application shortcuts
 to meet particular users requirements.

P6 Distinguish between a command line interface and a GUI based operating system and use examples of computer maintainance tasks to illustrate how user interaction is simplified by the Gui approach.

Here is my nearly finished dream boat 'SCALES'. Fitted with a Lynch motor by the Solar Boat Company so that it can move around under it's own power .The propulsion system works really well and has only been run for a few hours from new (as have the solar panels). It will need a new bank of batteries. The electric drive system has only covered 25-30 miles and works perfectly and speedily. I have 8 Monocrystaline solar panels to go with the boat, each 80 watts. The Butty itself is one of only 8 ever built so is a rarity. The previous owner spent 2 years rebottoming the boat with replica rounded chines and building really pretty stern and bow cabins in steel. He also made a counter and swim plate and fitted new stern gear. The back cabin is fitted out with a traditional boatmans cabin. The motor lives under the back step so technically it is the engine room! there is no diesel or oil so there are absolutely no engine or exhaust fumes or smells. Moving into the cargo area, new metal gunwhales fitted with nice rounded edges and steel frames under the tarps ( I have new Black PVC tarpaulins ready to fit which were made from good quality lorry tarp material ). I recently dry docked the boat and blacked the hull, while out of the water I had afull hull survey donewhich included ultrasound and hammer testing. Whilst it is in overall good condition they have recommended overplating a couple of small areas and new annodes for which I was quoted £400 plus materials,this is nothing for a 70 year old boat and isn't urgent. I have recently stripped out everything from the cargo area interior, taken up the ballast, primed everything up to the gunwhales with anti corrosive red oxide primer and refitted ballast and reclaimed scaffolding planks as floor boards, the bilges are spotless and bone dry. Whoever takes on this boat could move straight into the boatmans cabin. The cargo space is massive- over 50 feet long not including the boatmans cabin, the top plank width is wider than normal so there is much more room inside at head height, headroom is at least 6' 5". The bed is 6ft 3" long. The steering gear needs replacing. The boat has 3 and a half years left to run on it's boat safety certificate, the licence fee is about half price because of discounts for the electric motor, historic status and prompt payment. Minolta Hi-matic G2 user evaluation.

Mmm I remember these cameras from the what late 70's early eighties. A very small little camera. Bit light weight compared to their earlier siblings the Minolta Hi-matic 7. But Ok.

The first roll ive pushed through is Kodak Ultra 400( its what ever I can get hold of at a price point). ITs not the best film, but I wanna have a look at this colour film, its the first time ive used it. And the weather is drab!!!. Test images were shot at probable optimum aperture F8/F11.

I must say that the first impressions of the optical quality is really good. I did read somewhere that there was a possibility that the lens could be a lica design, This camera appeared after the lie up between Lica and Minolta and the creation of the Minolta CLE, a Joint Minolta, Lica project.

The negs, im Just scanning them in now and will post up to the blog asap.

The usability of this little camera is =very good, really bright viewfinder, The symbol focussing is not that much of an issue, after all were using 400, or 800 asa film, This camera is used primarily for Mono street work. And the symbols are a good way of implementing zone focussing, so much easier to see a symbol than see the distance on many of these small cameras. I must say IT worked really well, and when I did need accurate focussing, my hot shoe mounted 1940's range finder attachment to the aid. Its a case of transferring the distance from the range finder unit to the cameras focussing ring.

First of the crops are ready and semi documented on Flicker, These give an idea how a lense / film combination performs, The original image is approx 9 X 13 print size and im displaying a 2 X 1.75 (640 X 480) crop of this.
